Job Title: Fire Consultant

Location: RLB Leeds Office

 

Department Overview: 

RLB offers a range of Building Consultancy services one of which is Fire Consultancy. Our fire consultants proactively manage and undertake surveys, formulate designs and specification, provide fire strategies, plus other bespoke services to ensure our client’s estates remain well maintained and achieve their potential in terms of fire safety management.  

 

We pride ourselves on the quality of the service and providing our clients with long term solutions for their fire safety duties and aim to enjoy long-term working relationships with all of our Clients. 

 

Within our national Fire Advisory team, we have an experienced group of people skilled in the delivery of a wide range of fire safety services. In addition to the services, we deliver directly to our clients the team provides advice to the wider business both regionally and nationally on all things fire safety. 

 

Due to the increased success of our approach with our existing and new clients we have a need for an additional team member help to join our services. 

 

Overview of Role: 

We are currently recruiting for a Fire Consultant, with a background in Fire Safety Risk Management and Assurance/Compliance within our  Yorkshire, Humber and North East region. 

 

This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre candidate to join and strengthen our team. The role will be an excellent opportunity for a self-starter to provide fire consultancy services from within our existing team and look to further and progress their career in our employee-owned company. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures 

  • To ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, safety, Security and Quality Standards. 

  • To deliver value for money in all circumstances 

 

Professional Skills: 

  • To undertake fire risk assessments across a variety of property types ranging from residential, healthcare, custodial, education and commercial 

  • To undertake fire integrity / compartmentation surveys to identify breaches, proposed remedial repairs through to preparation of specification and design 

  • To provide quality & technical monitoring on construction projects 

  • To provide fire safety advisor role to assist our clients with their property portfolio 

  • Ideally have good knowledge of Approved Document B, Health Technical Memorandum 05-02, Building Bulletins, relevant British Standards 

  • To review contractors’ proposals on construction projects and provide comment on suitability for the intended purpose 

 

Person Specification: 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive approach to the role, and will be delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results. They will be passionate about fire safety and will strive to provide the upmost quality on every commission. 

  • Level 3 Fire Safety Qualification minimum 

  • Experience of undertaking/reviewing Fire Risk Assessments 

  • Knowledge of current and incoming UK fire safety legislation 

  • Strong technical delivery experience 

  • Client facing, ensuring high standards of technical delivery 

  • Able to build long-term relationships 

  • A track record of working with teams and prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines 

  • A team player, outgoing, flexible and motivated
