Department Overview:

RLB offers a range of Built Assets Consultancy services, one of which is Fire Safety. Our Fire Safety services team is made up of passionate Fire professionals from all different backgrounds who proactively manage and undertake fire risk assessments, compartmentation surveys, fire strategies and other bespoke services such as means of escape and occupancy assessments to ensure our national portfolio of Clients estates remain well maintained and achieve their potential in terms of fire safety compliance.

We pride ourselves on the quality of our Fire Service to our Clients and enjoy long-term working relationships.

We have grown our Fire Team successfully and are now at the stage where we need to recruit additional permanent team members to work across our portfolio in National Programmes.

We are a sector focused business actively operating and investing in Commercial, Data Centre, Residential, Education, Healthcare, Public Sector and Retail clients and projects. Consultants work in close contact with the client, advising them on compliance and legal matters that arise during the commission.

Overview of Role:

We are currently recruiting for a Fire Consultant, with a background in Fire Risk Assessing and Passive Protection inspections to join our Client focused team within National Programmes.

This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre candidate to join and strengthen our team. The role will be an excellent opportunity for a self-starter to provide fire consultancy services from within our existing team with excellent learning and development opportunities across the wider business.

Key Responsibilities:

To deliver value for money in all circumstances

Conduct comprehensive fire risk assessments, compartmentation surveys and identify associated risk and deficiencies to be followed up with an impartial remediation plan

Help guide clients and partners through statutory requirements and ensure compliance

Create technical documents to guide the application of fire safety guidance or systems in a clear and robust manner

Share learning with the Fire Safety team which enhances RLB’s technical output to Clients

Identify risks, issues and opportunities for the business. Communicate to senior team members

Sound working knowledge of UK fire safety legislation: to include but not limited to – Approved Document B, RR(FS)O, BS 9999, BB 100 & HTM 05-02 etc

Person Specification:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive approach to the role, and will be delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results. They will be passionate about fire safety and will strive to provide the upmost quality on every commission.

NEBOSH Fire, FPA C05 or equivalent

Experience of undertaking Fire Risk Assessments

Accredited fire risk assessment qualification or equivalent would be advantageous

Strong technical delivery experience

Hold a membership of a relevant professional body (IFE / IFSM etc.)

Preferably experience in fire risk management

Client facing, ensuring high standards of technical delivery

Able to build long-term relationships

A track record of working with teams and prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines

A team player, flexible and motivated

Travel to client’s sites with the potential for occasional overnight stays away from home

1.PERSONAL INFORMATION

When you interact with us in relation to your work with us, you may provide us with or we may obtain personal information about you, such as information regarding your:

2.SPECIAL CATEGORIES OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

We may also collect, store and use the following “special categories” of more sensitive personal information regarding you:

information about your race or ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation and political opinions;
information about your trade union memberships;
information about your health, including any medical condition, health and sickness records, medical records and health professional information and disability information; and
biometric information about you, for example fingerprints, retina scans.

We may not collect all the above types of special category information about you. In relation to the special category personal data that we do process we do so on the basis that:

the processing is necessary for reasons of substantial public interest, on a lawful basis;
it is necessary for the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims;
it is necessary for the purposes of carrying out the obligations and exercising our or your rights in the field of employment and social security and social protection law; or
based on your explicit consent.

In the table below we refer to these as the “special category reasons for processing of your personal data”.

We may also collect criminal records information. For criminal records information in relation to you we process it on the basis of legal obligations or based on your explicit consent.

3.WHERE WE COLLECT YOUR INFORMATION

We typically collect personal information about prospective employees, workers, directors or consultants through the application and recruitment process, either directly from candidates or sometimes from an employment agency or background check provider.

We may sometimes collect additional information from third parties including former employers, credit reference agencies or other background check agencies.

If you are providing us with details of referees, next of kin, beneficiaries, family members and emergency contacts they have a right to know and to be aware of how what personal information we hold about them, how we collect it and how we use and may share that information. Please share this privacy notice with those of them whom you feel are sufficiently mature to understand it. They also have the same rights as set out in the “Your rights in relation to personal information” section below.

Please note however that the withdrawal of your consent will not affect any use of the data made before you withdrew your consent and we may still be entitled to hold and process the relevant personal information to the extent that we are entitled to do so on bases other than your consent. Withdrawing consent may also have the same effects as not providing the information in the first place, for example we may no longer be able to engage you.

5.DISCLOSURE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We share personal information with the following parties:

Companies in the same group of companies as us: if relevant to your recruitment.
Your recruitment agency(s) or consultant(s): For the purpose of managing the recruitment process.
Any party approved by you.
Our professional advisors: such as lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, consultants and other advisors.
Other service providers to our business and advisors: CCTV providers, Recruiting software provider, Administration/IT services. All our third-party service providers and other entities in the group are required to take appropriate security measures to protect your personal information.
Purchasers of our business: buyers or perspective buyers to whom we sell or negotiate to sell our business.
The Government or our regulators: where we are required to do so by law or to assist with their investigations or initiatives, for example HMRC or the Information Commissioner’s Office.
Police, law enforcement and security services: to assist with the investigation and prevention of crime and the protection of national security.

We do not disclose personal information to anyone else except as set out above unless we have your consent or we are legally obliged to do so. We do not sell your data.

6.TRANSFERRING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION INTERNATIONALLY

Our directors and other individuals working for us may also in limited circumstances access personal information outside of the UK and European Union if they are on holiday abroad outside of the UK or European Union. If they do so they will be using our security measures and will be subject to their arrangements with us which are subject to English Law and the same legal protections that would apply to accessing personal data within the UK.

In limited circumstances the people to whom we may disclose personal information as mentioned in the section “Disclosure of your personal information” above may be located outside of the UK and European Union. In these cases, we will impose any legally required protections to the personal information as required by law before it is disclosed.

Email and Phone: from time to time, we may contact you by email or phone with information about job roles we believe you may be interested in.

We will only contact you if you have given us consent to do so.

8.HOW LONG WE KEEP PERSONAL INFORMATION FOR

The duration for which we retain your personal information will differ depending on the type of information and the reason why we collected it from you. However, in some cases personal information may be retained on a long-term basis: for example, personal information that we need to retain for legal purposes will normally be retained in accordance with usual commercial practice and regulatory requirements. Generally, where there is no legal requirement, we retain all physical and electronic records for a period of 12 months if you are unsuccessful in your application to work for us.

Exceptions to this rule are:

Where you have consented to us holding your details for longer in relation to future opportunities, we may hold records for up to 5 years.
Information that may be relevant to personal injury claims, employment claims, discrimination claims may be retained until the limitation period for those types of claims has expired. For personal injury or discrimination claims this can be an extended period as the limitation period might not start to run until a long time after you have worked for us.

9.YOUR RIGHTS IN RELATION TO PERSONAL INFORMATION

You have the following rights in relation to your personal information:

the right to be informed about how your personal information is being used;
the right to access the personal information we hold about you;
the right to request the correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you;
the right to request the erasure of your personal information in certain limited circumstances;
the right to restrict processing of your personal information where certain requirements are met;
the right to object to the processing of your personal information;
the right to request that we transfer elements of your data either to you or another service provider; and
the right to object to certain automated decision-making processes using your personal information.

You should note that some of these rights, for example the right to require us to transfer your data to another service provider or the right to object to automated decision making, may not apply as they have specific requirements and exemptions which apply to them and they may not apply to personal information recorded and stored by us. For example, we do not use automated decision making in relation to your personal data. However, some have no conditions attached, so your right to withdraw consent or object to processing for direct marketing are absolute rights.
