Our well-established Bids Team is integral to the success of our business. RLB’s established Bids Team works with partners and teams throughout the UK, Europe and globally, providing strategic advice, project management support and information resources to provide a consistent and professional bid delivery service.  The bids team also acts as an advocate of best practice and as strategic adviser for those producing non-strategic bids. Working as part of the wider Sales & Marketing Team, this role reports to the Head of Bids. You’ll contribute to the work-winning lifecycle through the end-to-end bid process, primarily in the UK, and Europe as needed.

 

Overview of role:

This exciting role is focused on producing and editing content for our strategic bids. The purpose of this role is to create outstanding bid content designed to showcase the organisation’s broad and extensive expertise.

This is a varied role working closely with Bid Team colleagues, the wider Sales & Marketing team and other colleagues across the RLB business. With a collaborative working style, you will work with Subject Matter Experts to create high-quality, high-impact and compelling bid materials.

  • Creation of market-leading bid content: 70% of role
  • Involvement in management and delivery of strategic bids: 30%

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Write and support colleagues to create, bespoke content for bids from storytelling through to final response that is engaging and active to the audience
  • Develop and consistently update a library of best practice bid content to assist in the creation of rapid, high-quality bid responses
  • Address and evaluate the needs of the client, understand and demonstrate the solutions to deliver to the client needs and articulate the value RLB brings
  • Coordinate and review/edit bid input from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from sales, marketing, sectors, services, HR, finance, commercial and legal
  • Ensure bespoke win-themes are clearly identified and included in the bid documentation and effectively articulate added value
  • Stay up to date with the customers, competition and RLB services to ensure responses are bespoke and clearly deliver the strategy
  • Contribute to, manage and meet all deadlines for writing content for SQ/RFI/RFP/bid completion
  • Own the delivery of strategic bids
  • Produce materials in line with RLB brand guidelines and ensure alignment with RLB’s tone of voice and style
  • Support the wider Bid team with writing and editing as required
  • Assist in achieving our targets through quality submissions that improve the conversion ratio from submission to success
  • Challenged content on how it achieves client objectives
  • Bring new ideas and innovations to the attention of the wider sales and marketing team to increase and maintain market position and win rates
  • Work with the bid operations team to ensure content is reviewed at regular intervals
  • Input to special projects: as needed.

 

Person specification:

The role is suited to a focussed and motivated individual with a proven track record of success in a bids environment. Expectations include teamwork, project management abilities, editorial strength, effective time and project management and ability to prioritise and balance short and long-term projects and activities.

  • Have significant in-depth experience of bid management within a professional services environment (ideally Real Estate or Construction)
  • Experience in persuasive writing
  • Experience in writing / editing strategic bids
  • An excellent eye for detail and exceptional proof-reading skills
  • Public sector bidding experience an advantage
  • Show strong strategic and commercial awareness, coupled with industry and competitor knowledge
  • Be able to create and manage complex project plans
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of bid presentation skills and best practice
  • Possess high levels of credibility with the ability to influence, challenge and coach senior stakeholders
  • Works collaboratively to leverage subject matter expertise, knowledge and insights across the business
  • Have a thirst for knowledge and application of knowledge to generate engagement through best-in-class bids
  • Monitors and analyses the impact of business/financial news on clients
  • Have presentation skills and experience to educate the business on content requirements share and content creation skills
  • Degree-educated or equivalent
  • Professional services or construction industry experience would be an advantage
  • Ability to flex and reprioritise as required
  • APMP accreditation would be an advantage
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) is essential
  • Willingness to adapt and embrace ideas and innovation.
