Department Overview: 

Our Sustainability Consultancy Team at RLB provide sustainability services to a range of national clients. Our services include bespoke sustainability strategies, net zero carbon consultancy alongside certifications including BREEAM, SKA and WELL. 

We are a sector focused business actively operating and investing in across sectors nationally for client portfolios and projects. As Sustainability Consultants, we work in close contact with their clients, advising them on a range of sustainability requirements, understanding the value that sustainability can provide. You will be expected to work closely with the clients as expert advisor throughout all projects.

Overview of Role: 

We are currently recruiting for an Associate Consultant to join our team within the national Sustainability team, for an agile working role ideally based out of the North West. The Sustainability team form part of our Strategic Solutions offering, delivering value-based outcomes for clients internationally. 

This is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to strengthen our department and further develop the business by working closely with our existing clients and developing new business. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

The key responsibilities will be to provide strategic sustainability consultancy, working with clients and colleagues internally to direct on strategic deliverables and grow strong client relationships. 

The successful candidate should have a holistic knowledge of sustainability and wider environmental, social and governance issues for both the built environment and wider corporations. 

  • Conduct project, strategic and technical delivery alongside client engagement 

  • Prepare engaging thought-leadership for social media channels and networks 

  • Be externally facing and the person should be proficient in driving forward projects and business development activity with an ability to identifying cross-selling opportunities 

  • Preparing and delivering sustainability strategies, action plans and statements 

  • Strong experience in developing achievable sustainability, net zero carbon and / or ESG strategies 

  • Experience of delivering BREEAM, LEED, WELL assessments 

  • Leading discussions with clients, writing compelling proposals and building relationships 

  • Assisting business development initiatives in the form of thought leadership pieces and social media articles 

  • Degree in sustainability or similar field and have experience of developing and delivering sustainability strategies, action plans and statements 

  • Line management experience 

  • Ideally chartered or be a practitioner working towards chartership

  • Customer Focus: Takes time to question and understand the real, underlying needs of the customer, beyond those initially expressed. Always works closely with customers, developing an independent view of their needs and acting in their long-term interest 

  • Influencing: Identifies and builds relationships with those who will be useful now and in the future in achieving strategic business objectives. 

  • Initiative: able to work alone to get results in an effective way. Knowledge of how to minimise waste in resources and processes. Adopts and encourages others to adopt new ways of working. Ability to work unsupervised. 

  • Team Player: Always willing to be involved in other activities to achieve company objectives. Works collaboratively and uses influence to gain resolution of issues. Demonstrates honestly, dedication and commitment.
