Division:         Built Asset Consultancy
Location:        National
Reporting to: Service Digital Lead

Role Overview:

RLB are seeking a motivated and talented Data Analyst (BI Developer) to join our Built Asset Consultancy team. As a member of the team, you will be supporting a range of technical disciplines - including Building Surveyors, Fire Engineers, Clerk of Works and Designers - to deliver data-driven reporting across a range of projects. You will primarily work on a Microsoft technology stack, utilising your skills and understanding of SQL, data services, APIs, Power BI, and Excel to deliver outputs and tools for both internal and external clients.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Power BI Development to support the production of outputs and tools for internal and external clients. This will include:

  • Data Extraction and Manipulation: Retrieve and extract data from various sources using SQL and other relevant tools, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in data acquisition. Manipulate and transform data to prepare it for analysis.
  • Data Analysis and Visualisation: Analyse datasets to identify patterns, trends, and insights. Create clear and visually appealing reports and dashboards using Power BI, SSRS and Excel to effectively communicate findings to stakeholders. Build a library of templated solutions for RLB’s Built Asset Consultancy service.
  • Data Integration and Management: Assist in developing data integration workflows and user journeys, including working with APIs to extract and load data from external systems into our data environment.
  • Data Governance and Information Security: Contribute to data governance practices and documentation to ensure data quality, performance optimisation and consistency. Liaise with RLB’s data team to ensure RLB practices are being followed.
  • Collaborative Problem Solving: Collaborate with the Built Asset Consultancy team to understand requirements and translate them into actionable data solutions. Provide insights and recommendations to support solution design.
  • Implementation and Roll-Out: Support the Service Digital Lead to develop testing, acceptance and roll-out plans, including user training and operating models for solutions in use.

2. Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with emerging trends, tools, and techniques related to data analysis and visualisation. Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices within the team. Work collaboratively with RLB’s data team to develop and hone skills.

3. Service Digital Transformation: Support the Service Digital Lead in delivering the Built Asset Consultancy Digital and Data Strategy. Provide ad-hoc project support for technology, Information Management and Digital needs across the Built Asset Consultancy Service

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field such as Computer Science, Data Science, or Information Systems.
  • An extensive track record of data analysis within the built environment sector with either a consultancy, contractor or developer.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft technologies, including Power BI and Excel, for data visualisation and reporting.
  • Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and statistical concepts.
  • Knowledge and understanding of data services, APIs, and data flows.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a detail-oriented approach.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, as well as independently when required.
  • A passion for data analysis, a curious mindset, and a drive to continuously learn and improve.

This is an excellent opportunity to be part of an emerging digital and data team within the Built Asset Consultancy service, with the potential for growth and influence over an evolving strategy. You will be fully supported by RLB’s talented data team and have the chance to work with cutting-edge Microsoft technologies as well as a wide range of disciplines delivering positive outcomes for our clients.

This role is flexible in terms of location: you will be able to work between your home and your local RLB UK office. There will be a degree of UK travel and occasional overnight stays to meet with our teams and gather requirements.
